Work for a Company That Cares, Doing Work You Care About

Being a large manufacturing plant, safety is at the heart of our culture and everything we do at the site. With this in mind, we are proud of our “Nothing we do is worth getting hurt for” attitude and the way we take care of ourselves and our colleagues. This culture of safety behaviour allows us to perform and excel to the maximum, to achieve our site’s goals, and beyond. We believe that if we can meet the needs of our consumers safely, we can be our most effective and everybody wins.

People

Every day, we strive to make sure P&Gers feel valued, included, and able to perform at their peak. We win when everyone brings their unique self to work, when we bring out the best in each other, and when everyone's talents are used and their voices are heard.

Work Environment

The plant environment offers everything you would expect to see and more. All areas are kept clean by our great cleaning contractors and safety is continually assessed in all working spaces, rest spaces and routes of travel across the site.

WORK COMMUNITY

At P&G Reading Plant we consider ourselves as close-knit, no matter which part of the plant you work within; what you will find that at the site our people are knowledgeable individuals who are only too happy to share their knowledge and help to problem-solve together.
We are always delighted to welcome new members to our Reading Plant.   Our friendly atmosphere means people build strong bonds fast and promotes a great sense of belonging and teamwork.

DIVERSITY & GENDER EQUALITY

P&G Reading Plant has a hugely diverse work population reflective of the town of Reading and it is important to us to celebrate everyone who works in it. Therefore, our Equality & Inclusion Team promotes and educates on equality, diversity and inclusion within our workplace by running events and always offering opportunities for everyone to better understand other cultures.
From resource and affinity groups to specific aids, we make sure people with disabilities (PWD) at P&G have everything they need to feel welcome, be understood, and make a difference. Every day, we work towards making our offices —and the world—more inclusive and accessible.

EMPLOYEE EVENTS

Our plant hosts a number of employee events throughout the year, these include a skills and capability-building week, team Christmas dinner, Christmas party, Summer social, as well as celebrating winning milestones with BBQs, ice-creams, and team pizza. Of course, the team here really do know how to have fun!

EMPLOYEE FORUM

We invite our employees to give us their points of view each month so that we can keep moving ahead to make sure this is one of the best places to work.

 OUR SITE COMMUNITY GROUPS

Here we have many groups that help support a sense of belonging at work, for example we have networks for women, LGBTQ+,  ethnic miniority groups, people with disabilities and mental health support.  Our site supports regular events to develop meaningful goals and visible impact.  These offer opportunities to its members for professional development, leadership and collaboration as well as increasing knowledge more broadly across our site.

GIVING BACK TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY

At P&G we recognise the value of giving back to the communities we serve as part of our corporate citizenship responsibilities, and our broader company Purpose, Values and Principles. Our onsite Community Matters team look at ways we can support local communities and groups; in the last year we have worked closely with Berkshire Women's Aid (standing up against domestic abuse), Reading Mencap (supporting people with neurodiversity challenges) and New Beginnings (helping young people in hardship).

Our Employee Volunteering Program enables employees to lend a supporting hand to their chosen charity, whilst receiving paid time off.

Partnering with secondary schools in the area, we offer valuable work experiences to pupils interested in Science, Technical, Engineering and Maths (STEM) careers;  our engineering and technical employees also attend careers events to support local young people in their choices of next level education leading to STEM careers.
