Description
Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Technician is being hired as a member of a high-performance work team. E&I Technicians are responsible for enabling production throughput, reducing equipment downtime, eliminating defects, and building technical mastery. They focus on initiating and implementing continuous improvement projects with the goal of delivering the best product, at the lowest cost, with the highest quality, and in a safe environment. E&I Technicians are expected to have electrical technical mastery in order to successfully troubleshoot problems and to proactively improve production systems. E&I Technicians perform various types of work, such as:
Maintaining and troubleshooting high-speed packing, making, and facilities power & controls equipment
Using electrical test equipment to diagnose electrical problems
Performing preventive maintenance and calibrations on equipment
Troubleshooting, monitoring, & programming PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems
Troubleshooting and monitoring variable frequency drives, servo control systems, robotics
Troubleshooting and repairing machine and process control equipment
Have ownership of systems/equipment
Individuals with an electrical-based AAS (Associates of Applied Science) degree or equivalent electrical work experience should apply.
Familiarity with the National Electric Code and being Low Voltage Qualified is desired. Additional skills we are seeking include experience with PLC's and HMI's, instrumentation calibrations, motor control systems, variable frequency drives, servo drives, power distribution (<600V), and control system networking.
In addition, we are seeking individuals with good interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills. All applicants must be willing to work off-shifts and pass a drug screening, physical, and several job-related skill tests.
The Iowa City Oral Care Procter & Gamble Plant operates 7-days per week. We rely on local talent and relocation is generally not paid. Technicians work any day of the week, including weekends. Work on weekends may be as overtime or as part of the Technician's normal schedule. Changes in business volume and production requirements can cause the plant to occasionally change the length of work shifts or the rotation schedule. The hours of work vary from 8 to 12 hours per day. Shift rotations vary from working a single straight shift to working two or three rotating shifts. Technicians are expected to be willing to rotate and to work any shift. Additional days could be required to be worked as overtime.
